Party On

So when was the last time you went to a party in a block of retirement flats?

Well, that was our Saturday – family party for the MIL. Here is the card I made for her.

The chipboard numbers were covered with ultra thick embossing powder and topped with glitter dust. These were then mounted on papers from Basic Grey some of which had been through the Cuttlebug. Pink and white polka dot ribbon was tied round before the panel was mounted on a hand cut scalloped frame with small gems.

I also made a set of thank you cards, with matching envelopes all in a decorated box.

MIL had a wonderful time so mission accomplished

Now who would like some of that cake I promised you?

Thank you for stopping by

Friends

How has your week been? Now one of the cards I made last Sunday has been given to its intended recipient I think it is OK to share it with you!

Its been a mixed week with work and while I was away there were some good things and some sad in the evenings. On Wednesday it was a beautiful evening in Birmingham and a friend and I went for a lovely walk around Earlswood lakes. I drive past these on the way from my digs to work but had not explored them before. I had not expected them to be this lovely. It was also good to catch up with my friend – I enjoy her company and always feel better for spending time with her.

Thursday evening on the other hand was kinda sad – a colleagues leaving do. I will be sad not to work with her any more but very excited for her too - she has got herself a great new job which is well deserved and I know she will do it really well. So here is the card I made for her. It’s a combination of some of my favourite products – Basic Grey Paper, A Bella and some embossing from my new Cuttlebug.

Well I gotta dash – 75th Birthday party to organise – no not mine! I will bring you back some cake!

Thanks for stopping by and I will catch you later

Home is where …

How would you finish this sentence?

At the moment I am living away from home during the week and the whole concept of home is once that I have been thinking about a lot recently. I have been following Shimelle’s class
There’s No Place Like Home. There are loads of great projects in it and some wonderful prompts. While I am away I don’t have access to many craft supplies so I have made myself a notebook to work through the prompts in. I have decorated the pages with some little houses. Sometimes I find myself writing stories in response to the prompts, other times just planning projects I will do in the future.
One of the prompts asked us where we consider our home to be and with all the travel I am doing here is my rather flippant answer!

Apart from this its been a craft free week :-(

So now the chores are mostly done and I have caught up on my emails, I am just off to make some cards …

Thanks for stopping by

Cake and Mojo

Well I offered you cakes so here is the first one!

Unusually I got to let my Mojo out to play on a Monday. However there was just time for a quick card before heading off to my home from home – just a relatively short trip this week but I will miss being home. I was inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch on
Julee’s Poetic Artistry Blog. You can find some lovely cards on her Blog.

This card was made using an image from one of my favourite stamp collections – Stamping Bella. I am sure Bella bakes a great cake. The Image was stamped onto cream cardstock with purple Stazon ink. I then stamped it again onto a scrap of the pink cardstock and cut out the apron. The rest of the image was coloured with my Polychrome pencils from Faber Castell and then blended with Sandor. This image was mounted onto a lilac panel which I had run through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. This was then mounted onto cream before being added to the pink card with the two lilac panels behind. Three small holes were punched in the left hand side and lined with cream.

I hope you enjoy it.

Now who would like a slice of cake?

Welcome to My World

Hello and welcome to my shiny new virtual abode! I am excited about setting up my own space, my lighthouse, here in the magical kingdom of ‘Blog-land’.

I love making cards and other paper-craft projects and as I start this blog I look forward to sharing some creative adventures with you all. I hope to show you some of the things I make, share ways of doing things and discuss some of the wonderful things that I have seen here in cyberspace.

Coffee, tea and of course cupcakes are available to all so pull up a chair, help yourself and join me for a chat.

So being that this is my new cyber home I thought I would start by sharing a new home card I made recently for a swap that the lovely
Passionflower organised on UKS. If you would like to know how it was made let me know!

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing you again soon
